Decimal odds and implied probability

Decimal odds show the gross return per unit stake if a selection wins, including the original stake. The simple implied-probability calculation is 1 divided by decimal odds. For example, odds of 2.00 correspond to 50% before accounting for bookmaker margin. That calculation is a conversion, not proof that the event has a 50% chance.

A three-outcome football market can have implied percentages whose total exceeds 100%. The excess is commonly used as a rough indicator of market margin, but exact comparisons require matching markets, timing and settlement rules. This guide does not claim Betway’s current margin or a particular odds advantage.

Why displayed prices move

Prices can update as information, bets or event conditions change. The final accepted odds may differ from the number previously visible, particularly during live play. A market can also close. Check the accepted ticket; do not treat a page view or an older screenshot as an executed price.

Promotions and boosted odds can have different eligibility and settlement conditions. The headline price may apply only to specified fixtures or account groups. Read the campaign terms and compare the actual market price after conditions are considered.

How to make a fair comparison

Compare the same event, market, period and settlement definition at roughly the same time. Record whether a price is a standard price or promotion, whether it requires opt-in, and whether stake or account restrictions apply. A casual screenshot comparison across different times can be misleading.

We did not build a dated multi-operator sample, adjust margins or model expected value. Betway’s public site lists sportsbook access, but that alone does not establish best odds or value.

Risk and bankroll boundaries

A positive implied price does not make a bet profitable or suitable. Results vary and losing streaks occur. Set a fixed entertainment budget, use small stakes, and do not borrow or chase. A spreadsheet of past results cannot guarantee a future edge.

If your play feels difficult to control, pause, use limits or account closure tools, and seek support. Gambling should not be treated as a job or a way to repay debt.
